Bio: Head Coach Becca Bestul is a Chippewa Falls native, of the graduating class of 2000 from Chi-Hi. She was an All-Conference Basketball and Volleyball player her junior and senior seasons. After graduating from Chi-Hi, she went on to a successful career at UW-Eau Claire, where she was a member of two WIAC Conference championship teams, played in an NCAA Final Four, and was an Academic All-American and All-American. She graduated with honors from UWEC in 2005 with a degree in Biology Broadfield Education and a Coaching minor. After graduation, Bestul worked at Eau Claire North High School for 11 years, where she taught Environmental Science and Biology and coached a variety of sports (volleyball, basketball, track & field). From 2008-2015, she was an assistant basketball coach at UW-Eau Claire. In 2010, Bestul earned a Master's Degree in Natural Resources (Environmental Education) from UW-Stevens Point. Bestul has been coaching and teaching AP Biology, Biology, and Environmental Science at Chi-Hi since 2016. Bestul is married to Chippewa Falls teacher and coach Mike Bestul, also a native of Chippewa Falls. They have two children (Zach - 2014, Rose -2017)
JV 2 Coach: Dan Loomis
Bio: This is Loomis's fifth year coaching at the JV2 level. He has coached middle school basketball for 22 years in the district. Dan was involved with the Cardinal Flight Youth Basketball organization, coaching his two daughters for 8 years. He was also the president for three years. He is married, his wife teaches at the middle school and he has two daughters, Qianna (22 Years) and Marais (19 years old).
Bio: This is her sixth year at Chippewa Falls teaching and coaching. She is so excited to be a part of this program again. Originally, she is from a small town south of Green Bay called Valders. She played four sports in high school (football, volleyball, basketball, softball). A graduate of UW-Superior where she played basketball for four years and helped the team win its first conference championship. She was a two time WIAC Player of the Year and was recognized as an All-American and Academic All-American. In addition to basketball, she played softball and soccer at UW-Superior. She teaches Geometry and Algebra at Chi-Hi.
JV Coach: Gretta Layman
Bio:Coach Layman is a 2006 Chi- Hi graduate. She was part of the WIAA State appearance team in 2005 and Conference champs her junior and senior year. After graduating from Chi-Hi, she went Mankato State University on a scholarship and won a national champion in 2008 -2009 season. She transferred to UW- Stout Menomonie to be closer to family and finished her Bachelors degree in Science education ( double major: Broadfield Science and Biology, minor: Physics) After graduation, Layman worked at Thorp High School for a year, where she taught several science courses and coached a variety of sports (volleyball, basketball, softball). Coach Layman then took a job at Rhinelander High school for 5 years teaching Physical Science , Physics, Biology and coached volleyball. In 2016, Layman earned a Master's Degree in Teacher leadership from Silver Lake college. This is her third year coaching at the JV level in Chippewa Falls.
